News from Vegan Outreach

Notes from All OverUpcoming Book TourMeat Market now set -- dates and locations.
From Our Members I went vegan because of Vegan Outreach, and
though it's hard for me to believe, that was
over four and a half years ago now. I recently
had some blood work done, and I was in the healthy
range for everything -- including the famed
B12!
My doctor also told me that I have less than
half the average risk for men in the United
States for heart attack or stroke. Because of
what
I learned from Vegan Outreach,
I eat a healthy varied diet and I supplement
that with a multivitamin, B12, Calcium/D, and
flaxseed oil. I'm not that rigorous at taking
them (probably only average once a week) but
it seems to be all I need! The doctor was impressed,
and he even asked me a few questions about veganism.
He added that he's noticed he feels better when
he doesn't eat meat. I wish I had a Why
Vegan? with me! On my first day at U. MN, I received a pamphlet
about the cruelty that happens to animals in
the meat industry. After viewing the pictures
and reading the heart-breaking stories, I am
no longer going to eat meat. It has now only
been 3 days, but I have been meat-free and feel
great. I'm interested in helping any way I can. I want to thank you so much for your site.
I cried like a baby when I read it. It is time
to advance myself and become a vegan. Last night
my little boy (who is 12) was crying. When I
asked him why he responded, "I was thinking
of all the poor animals who are frightened before
they are killed to be eaten." I tried to
comfort him, but the truth must be known to
all. He took solace in the fact that he would
never have to be part of this butchery. After reading "Activism
and Veganism," I realized
that I am responsible for being "Vegan
Police" on occasion. I feel
terrible about this and have decided that I
want to help promote veganism. This essay has
really opened my eyes, and I'm not going to
whine in front of non-vegans anymore. This
past weekend Action for Animals tabled at 3
Dave Matthews concerts at the Gorge Amphitheater
in central Washington and at Bumbershoot, a
Seattle music festival. We were able to distribute
4,200 copies of Why Vegan in four days
at the two events! Without Vegan Outreach and
your members' support, we would not have been
able to have such a successful weekend of outreach.
