News from Vegan OutreachUPDATED: More Why Vegan?s To Be Printed!
Vegan Outreach has raised the $10,000 we needed to print another 250,000 copies of Why Vegan! We are very grateful to all our generous supporters who helped us meet this goal. Thank you so much! At right, Ellen Green leaflets at Carnegie Mellon University.
More Adopt a College Milestones! We just surpassed a few milestones: 200 colleges leafleted and an estimated 100,000+ birds and mammals prevented a life of suffering per year. That comes to over 5 million over the next 50 years. We've now handed out 33,000 pamphlets this semester!!
Link of the Week: Be Joyous and Humble
Notes from All OverEat Your Veg"In its World Cancer Report, published last year, the World Health Organization (WHO) quietly dropped the bombshell that 30 per cent of cancers in the West can be attributed to dietary factors - placing food second only to tobacco as a preventable cause of cancer. If we all improved our diet overnight (dream on), 2.1 million lives a year could be saved. Instead of 20 million people worldwide suffering from cancer, the figure could be 14 million (and a further half of those could be avoided by also banning smoking). Of the 10 million new cases every year, three million could be prevented by eating wisely. "In the fight against cancer, then, the message is clear: legitimate science is leading us inexorably towards a vegan diet."

From Our MembersWith the help of Sara and her 6 year
old son Brenden, we passed out a total of 600
Why Vegans at Kent State University,
in only 2 hours!!! Brenden, obviously, kicked
our butts! In critique of Sara and I, he said
"you're not passing them out fast enough!"
It was a beautiful day! A very good response!
