Notes from Vegan OutreachLast Days – Don't be Left Behind! Thanks to the generosity of our members, Vegan Outreach has raised $13,613.89 towards April's $20,000 matching donation challenge. You can help Vegan Outreach receive more of this challenge and put it towards printing and distributing more booklets. These booklets have been changing lives every day on college campuses, preventing misery for just pennies an animal. In fact, the USDA has forecasted (see below) that poultry meat production will decline in 2007 for the first time since 1973! All one-time donations marked "Matching" will be doubled. The initial amount of a new quarterly recurring donation will be tripled (i.e. a new $50 quarterly donation will be matched with $100), and the initial amount of a new monthly recurring donation will be quadrupled. You can donate securely on-line, including setting up recurring donations.
Checks may be mailed to: Vegan Outreach All donations must be marked "Matching" and dated in April to qualify. Thanks! At right, Stephanie Klempner leaflets at New York University; photo by Jenna Calabrese.
Where Your Donations Go
Overall distribution for 2007 has already passed half-a-million booklets, with more than 275,000 handed out directly to individuals on college campuses. (At this time last year, Adopt a College had barely passed 150,000). Thanks so much to everyone who is out there, every day, reaching new people. You can see the full list for the term here. Feedback from Our MembersWhile leafleting at
the International Festival today,
a teenager told me that she got
the pamphlet earlier in the day,
and that she is now definitely going
to go vegetarian. I replied, "In
that case, you will also need one
of these", and handed her a
GCFE.
Her friend then said that she needed
a GCFE too. This scenario
repeated a number of times today.
I have now been vegan
for one year, thanks
to you. Turning vegan really surprised
my family. But with your starter
guide and other info, it made the
transition easier. So now I am 20
pounds lighter, healthier and celebrating
ALL life to the fullest! At American U today,
a professor I spoke with last time
I was there told me that he uses
the Even If booklet in
his classes on a regular basis.
That's the second day in a row in
which a professor mentioned using
EI in his or her class.
