Dave Mosick Leafleting Campaign

  Dave Mosick

Vegan Outreach volunteer Dave Mosick needs your support! Dave handed out 1,466 leaflets about factory farming and vegetarian / vegan eating on college campuses last semester. This fall semester, he hopes to more than triple his efforts and distribute 5,000 leaflets.

According to a recent study, about one out of every 50 students who received a leaflet indicated they became a vegetarian or pescetarian as a result. This suggests that for every 100 leaflets distributed on college campuses, about 50 animals a year are spared a lifetime of misery on factory farms. That’s one animal spared for every two leaflets distributed. So if Dave reaches his goal, that’s 2,500 animals spared!

Dave takes time out of his schedule as a professional musician to volunteer for Vegan Outreach. Based in Washington, DC, Dave maintains a busy schedule performing, as both a leader and sideman. Dave is also an in-demand jazz educator, regularly hosting clinics and giving private lessons. In August 2003, Dave was the featured jazz guitar clinician at Washington’s Jazz Academy of Music. Dave’s unique concepts in jazz improvisation have been published in Just Jazz Guitar magazine. Check out Dave’s website here!

In conjunction with reaching his leafleting goal, Dave is doing a fundraiser for Vegan Outreach. Let’s show him the support he deserves! Donations can be made at Dave’s fundraising page.

Thank you!

#HydrateDonate Is Exploding!

Have you heard about the Hydrate Donate Challenge?

Started by VO’s own Jon Camp as a fun spin-off on the Ice Bucket Challenge, the Hydrate Donate Challenge asks people to hydrate, donate $25 to two separate charities, and then ask three of your friends to do the same. You can see an example of this here.

Exciting! A generous supporter has allocated $1,500 so that for the next 30 individuals who take part in this challenge, an additional $50 will go towards Vegan Outreach.

New All-Time Campus Record!

Absolute monster day: 8,760 students reached with a case for veganism at Cal State Northridge – a new all-time VO school record.
Huge thanks to Mu, Dane, David, and Leron [below, left] for coming out early and being so wonderful, and for grinding it out and trusting my orchestrations.
We saw lots of readers, and spoke with several interested folks, including two friends committed to going veg [below, right], and a woman who was inspired to volunteer with VO.
Great sense of teamwork, trust, and selflessness. Feels good to reach so many!
—Vic Sjodin, 8/25/14

Shown are some of the students who are going veg as a result of receiving booklets from the record-setting CSUN crew (below, from left): Mu Jin Han, Dane Charbeneau, Vic Sjodin, Leron Rabinowiz, and David Hastings.
