Another Record-Breaking Semester!
We’re excited to announce a new college leafleting record! For the fall 2015 semester, VO activists have already reached 1,129,211 students, busting our previous all-time semester record of 1,098,979.
This new record is only possible because of our tireless team of Outreach Coordinators and volunteers who stand for hours on their feet, in all weather conditions, reaching today’s youth with the plight of farmed animals. And of course, there’d be no Outreach Coordinators, volunteers, or booklets if not for all of you who generously donate to make this work possible.
|Above: Jenn Thompson (left) and Cindy Decker (center) teamed with Kim Moffatt and Vic Sjodin at Long Beach City College this fall; together they reached 2,400 students in a single day, including Fernando (right), who read a booklet in class and now wants to go vegan!
Do you want even more people to be handed a pro-veg booklet next year by a friendly animal activist? We do too! That’s why we’re trying to raise $225,000 by December 31 – and it will all be matched dollar-for-dollar by a group of generous donors. That’s a total of $450,000 we could put toward outreach for animals in 2016.
That’s huge, but we can’t do it without you. We’ve raised $65,239 so far, with $159,761 left to go. Your donation is needed! Please donate today and rest easy tonight knowing your money will inspire more vegans!
In Memory of Karen Oberg
On Monday, November 30, Vegan Outreach lost a dear friend and a hero to the animals – Karen Oberg, volunteer and mother to John Oberg, VO’s Director of Communications.

Karen will be remembered as someone who showered others with kindness, generosity, joy, and humor in the face of great adversity. Thank you for all you did to bring more compassion into this world, Karen.
We at Vegan Outreach will miss you immensely.

Vegan Mentors Needed!

We had a great time at the Portland VegFest! My volunteer Dima Tsvetkov from Vancouver, BC, came all the way down to help out on Saturday. We met a lot of really great people (ate tons of great food) and met quite a few people looking to get involved in outreach! A few stories stick out:
The parents of the Gerrett family began their five-year stretch of veganism after receiving an Even If You Like Meat on their college campus in Iowa.
A high school student from Reno, NV, came out with her mom and said she was in a vegan club at her school! I gave her two packs of literature to get started.
A woman picked up a pack of booklets for her vegan T-shirt company (she likes to send a booklet with her orders).
And countless people just thanked us for the work we do. Go, VO!
