Yesterday I handed out 300 booklets at the Institute of Technology & Management in Dehradun. After I reached home, I received a message from a student named Ridhi saying the leaflet contains good knowledge everyone should read at least once.

I reached another 300 students today at Pt. Lalit Mohan Sharma Government Post Graduate College in Rishikesh and had a conversation with Arun Singh [below], who’s now ready to try a vegetarian diet!

From VO Mexico Outreach Coordinator Emmanuel Marquez:

At the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México on Tuesday, Mexico Campaigns and Spanish Media Coordinator Katia Rodriguez, VO intern Joselyn Aguilar, and I had support from new and very inspired volunteers. Citlali Sanchez [above, left] joined us for the second time and her nervousness started to fade away—I bet next time she’ll do great. Valdemar Leal and Areli Sanchez [below] didn’t know each other until leafleting with VO brought them together. Both were nervous at the beginning too, but they did amazingly well.

We reached more than 7,000 students and had some very positive interactions. Many students came back when they heard it was info to help animals. A teacher asked for a bunch of leaflets to share with her students. We met a couple who thanked us for our effort: one of them is vegan and the other is vegetarian. They had some doubts about vitamin B12 that I gladly cleared, and I directed them to the nutrition section of our website in Spanish for further info about doses. Finally, I met Bernardo [above, right], who wants to stop eating animals now because of pigs. I had a great conversation with him and gave him a vegetarian guide plus our contact info so he can make a sustainable transition to a veg diet.

Katia, Joselyn, and I [below] handed out 2,450 booklets today at the Colegio de Ciencias y Humanidades Plantel Azcapotzalco. It was our last day in Mexico City and the last day of Joselyn’s internship with me this semester. She joined me for eight weeks, visiting schools in 10 cities, enduring cold weather, sunburns, sleeping on couches and not the most comfortable places, to help animals. When we said goodbye, she told me she was extremely grateful to VO’s donors for giving her the opportunity to do this life-changing work reaching thousands of people.

I had a GREAT day at Union County College today. One girl stopped me after having received a leaflet earlier in the day and told me that she thought the writers of the leaflet did a great job—saying that she has been trying to go vegan for a while but always felt really pressured to go all-or-nothing, and ended up failing multiple times. She said the fact that the leaflet emphasized making a gradual transition made her feel less pressured and more confident about ultimately making the full transition.

A girl I met named Valentina got really excited when I gave her a leaflet, saying she’s been wanting to transition to vegan for a while but has had a really tough time with budgeting and knowing what to eat. I gave her a Guide to Cruelty-Free Eating and told her about the Vegan Mentor Program; she was so grateful and even let me take her picture [below]! There were many others that stopped to talk today, including two curious security guards who ended up being really interested in the information in the leaflet.
